12 Elevating Things About THIS Christmas!!! :-)

Well, since my sister-in-law, Britt, whom I had tagged, did not post on her blog her 12 things about Christmas, and I highly doubt she will be doing it today or anything, I decided I would do it for her. So here goes... (Disclaimer: This is me speaking for Britt! These are not her own words, rather me putting words into her mouth from the story as I understood it from Chris.)

1. Woke UP at 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Christmas Eve, unexpectedly.

2. Moving expectations UP two weeks.

3. Water broke, thus prompting Chris to ARISE as well.

3. Do to being early, we were not yet prepared to RAISE anyone else in the night to watch our other seven children.

4. ROSE our oldest, Kalani, to tell her we were going to the hospital and that she would be in charge during the night.

5. Drove to the hospital at HIGH speeds, INCREASING the closer we got and the more my pain INCREASED.

6. Arriving at the hospital, we had to look HIGH and low for the entrance to the maternity ward, as they had expanded the hospital since the last baby I had at that hospital and changed things a bit. We had to look on different sides of the hospital when it wasn't the entrance we had previously used.

7. Maternity had moved UP in the world. Finally finding the correct entrance, as we came in the security guard asked if I needed a wheelchair. As I said no, Chris immediately said, "Sit down," as he did not want me to have a baby in the lobby.

8. As we rode UP in the ELEVATOR, the number of children we have ELEVATED, as well! Our 8th child, Abigail Lillian Kelly, was born, immediately moving UP in the world! ;-)

9. Chris had yelled for help, but no one in the UPSTAIRS maternity ward could hear, behind double doors and the ELEVATOR door.

10. Putting the baby UP on top of me, Chris continued to RAISE his voice, yelling, "Help! My wife just had a baby in the ELEVATOR!" until finally someone heard, and people came running to help.

11. They cut the cord while in the wheelchair, and I told Chris to hurry and get the camera!!! (Can't forget the important things, you know!?!) He got a picture of us in front of the ELEVATOR; then they took me to delivery (wasn't I kind of already beyond that point?) to deliver the placenta. By the time Chris got back to the ELEVATOR, they had already cleaned it UP, so no picture of the inside.

12. We went home the night of Christmas Eve, so Abi could spend her first Christmas at home. (That and I like it better at home!) Abi came home in a Christmas stocking, just like her Aunt Tami, only she didn't wait until Christmas Day to do so. ;-) So the most ELEVATING thing about THIS Christmas is our 8 lb. 3 oz. baby girl, Abigail Lillian Kelly! :-)

Just a side note, though quick, Britt does not recommend having a baby in an elevator, as it was not very comfortable. (I could only dream of having a baby that fast and getting it over with like that, but I don't imagine the elevator thing would be the most fun.) It sure makes for a great story though--so UPLIFTING!!! Hehehe! Abi will sure have a fun one to tell.

Britt sounds like she could belong to the Gooch family. Havent I heard a few of these "barely getting to the hospital in time to deliver" stories from my sisters? I cant remember if any were delivered in an elevator though. Cute way to tell the story Tami. I'm sure Britt will enjoy it.

This is so funny. Very cleverly done. Congratulations to Britt and Chris.

Great job on an amazing story. We know Britt is a blogger because she had the presence of mind to get the picture of the baby just born in the elevator. Do you wish Matthew had come that quick?!!

Shellbell, I'm sure if any had been born in an elevator, you would remember. I don't think that's one people forget.
PiP, part of the picture issue was that when her twins were born, they left so quickly that they forgot their camera, so they don't have any immediate pictures of them. That's bothered her ever since, so she wanted to make sure she got a pic of this one. As for Matthew coming that quickly, sure that would have been nice to have it over with fast, but I don't think I'd want it in an elevator. Besides, had it been that fast, you probably wouldn't have made it! ;-)
I don't think, even if I had 8 children like Britt has, I could ever possibly even come close to having one that fast...or even 10 times that fast, going by my track-record! :-)
