The Haircut Letter

Yesterday we did haircuts. Sorry, no pics. I didn't think about it at the time. Anyway, the point...

I cut Jeremy's hair first, and we were ready to proceed to Jacob's hair. We were ready, meaning Jeremy and I. Jacob, apparently, wasn't so ready. He has normally been okay with getting his hair cut, but this time he just screamed and fought the whole way through just about. No amount of bribing seemed to work--not even some of that yummy Halloween candy he'd already snitched a piece of that morning. Telling him he could take a bath after to wash away the itchies helped, but it still didn't really stop him from throwing a fit. Ultimately, the only way to get through the haircut was for Jeremy to hold him as still as possible--which still wasn't totally still, mind you--while I cut it. Phew! We finally made it through that one. Needless to say, when Jeremy suggested waking up Matthew to cut his hair, I declined. Let's see... Wake baby--not something I like to ever do anyway. Have baby be ornery because he was woken up--no thanks. Fight another child through a haircut--ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! That just was not what I wanted to do right then, so Matthew will wait for another day. I don't think he minds so much.

Okay, anyway... On to the real point of this post...

While we were fighting with Jacob, Jessica went inside and wrote him a sweet letter. She kept coming out and reading it to him, then she'd go back in and write another sentence and come out and read that before going back and adding on again. It was very cute. It didn't help any, but it was nice anyway. Well, here's the final letter.

I hope you can read it okay. I just thought it was too sweet not to share. I asked her if it was okay to put it on here, and she said yes.

Sometimes kids actually do nice things for their siblings. They DO love each other! Imagine that! :-)
