Jessie's Talk

Jessica gave a talk in primary on Sunday. It's always enlightening to me when she does that because I have her tell me what to type and get to hear her own thoughts. It's just kind of amazing to me how much children really do understand about the Gospel that you don't even realize they know. Well... here's her talk. The first sentence was the theme for the month; then she just told me what to type. The last little bit she told me to write, so I just kind of pulled it all together. Then I helped her to edit just a few little things, but basically she did most of it herself. So here it is...

"I am thankful to know that we are all children of God. I know that Heavenly Father is my spirit father. I know that Heavenly Father has daughters and sons. Heavenly Father loves us all. I know that Heavenly Father loves his children on earth. I am thankful to know that Heavenly Father loves my family and me. I want you to know that Heavenly Father loves you, too. I want you to know that you are Heavenly Father’s sons and daughters. I am thankful for Heavenly Father to be my spirit father. I want you all to know that Heavenly Father loves your mom and dad and you and your brothers and sisters. I want you to know that you are a child of God. I know that you are my spirit brothers and sisters. I am thankful that you are my spirit brothers and sisters. I want you to know that I am friendly to my Father in Heaven. I pray to Heavenly Father when I am scared and when I am sad. I know that I am a child of our Father in Heaven. I know that Heavenly Father gave me a spirit so I can live and live with Heavenly Father someday. I am thankful for Heavenly Father’s food that He made for us. I am thankful that Heavenly Father gave us toys and computers so we can play games on the computers and work on computers. I am happy that Heavenly Father gave us TV’s so we can watch movies. I love my Heavenly Father a lot. I am thankful that Heavenly Father gave us tables so we can color and eat food at tables. I am thankful that Heavenly Father gave me a mom and dad. I am thankful that Heavenly Father gave me brothers so I can play with someone at my home. Because we are all His children, Heavenly Father loves us and blesses us with all of these many things and more. I know that I can pray to Him anytime and that He will answer my prayers. I am thankful that I have been taught these things because it makes me happy to know that we are all children of God. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."

It may be a little repetitive, but it's perfectly sincere! I figured that while she's excited to prepare a talk herself I'd better let her do it. It's a great experience for her, and it gives me an opportunity to find out more about her--what she knows, feels, understands, thinks, and even words that she uses. She read it all by herself, too. I am so pleased with her.

I, too, am thankful to know that we are all children of God. :-)
