Christmas Salt!

This morning I was cooking some eggs for breakfast, and Jacob was watching me preparing things to put in it. As I was cutting some of the veggies up, I told him they were red peppers and green peppers. Then later as I was getting some salt down from the cupboard and adding it, Jacob said, "That's pepper?" because he has seen and heard of salt and pepper before. I said, "No, that's salt. This is pepper," as I put the salt back and grabbed the pepper from the shelf. I finished cooking, and we ate breakfast.

A short while later, we were talking to my mom on a video conference with isight, and she asked Jacob what he had for breakfast, knowing that we had just eaten. He told her he had eggs, so I told him to tell her what mommy put in the eggs. He replied, "There was red salt and green salt..."

I guess the whole salt and pepper thing mixed him up as to which one the red and green things shared a name with. Was it red salt or red pepper? He chose salt. It's Just Jacob funny again! I don't think I've ever seen red and green salt before, but it might be fun at Christmas time! I wonder if it would work to add food coloring to salt... Hmmm, maybe not...

It sure is fun to eat things from our garden, though. The red pepper, green pepper, and tomato we had in our eggs were from our garden, and it was yummy! (Not to rub it in or anything.) I sure wish they could keep growing year round, but we don't have means to make that happen. I've got a couple of orange peppers I need to use too! They're my favorite peppers! I especially like them grilled on the BBQ. Maybe since Jeremy is coming home tonight I might be able to convince him to BBQ tomorrow... :-)

Hum, I wonder what christmas salt tastes like. That's funny. Salt and pepper, same thing to me.

Ya, thanks for rubbing it in.

Sounds delicious to me, what ever the color. Anything fresh from the garden is good for me. Can't wait. To have. One.

I could just taste the peppers and tomatoes and eggs as I read your post. If I had the ingredients, I would make some right now. MMMM!!

Kids say the cutest things!

Thanks, Jill! That's so sweet of you to think of me. For the most part I am doing fine. Just every now and then there will be some little thing that makes me miss him, but it is generally the man I knew who was healthy and well who I miss, not the more recent dad. For his sake, I'm glad he has passed on so that he is no longer miserable. I just miss the little things. Anyway, thanks. :-)
