I've been slow about posting anything for multiple reasons. 1) Jeremy took the camera with him without loading all the pics I needed onto my computer first. 2) I have the video camera with footage, but I don't know how to do what I need to with that to put it on here. 3) Matthew has been sick since Friday afternoon with a fever (which is finally down to 99.1; yesterday it was up to 103.6 at one point), so I've been a bit preoccupied. So anyway, pictures and video clip are still to come, but I figured I'd at least share a bragging moment!
Jessica had her very first school play on Thursday morning! It was called "Three of a Kind," and she was the Queen of Hearts. Most of the characters were part of things that came in 3s (yes, I know, I know, just MY type of play, right?!)--such as King, Queen, and Jack of Hearts, 3 little pigs, 3 men in a tub, 3 bears, etc.
Anyway, for a kindergarten play, those kids did a really good job, and I'm not just saying that because one of them was my daughter. Lots of people were saying that. Some friends of ours came to watch Jessica, and one of them commented that was the best elementary school play he'd seen (of course, he hadn't seen the older grades at this school, but some other people had commented that they thought this was the best one this year). Well, anyway, I, of course, thought it was excellent! Not that I'm biased or anything! ;-)
So here's an even cooler thing about it. Somehow I had not clearly gotten the info. that Jessica had a solo part in the play. At one point, she said something that made me wonder, but then later she said something else that made me think she didn't. So I came to the play not at all expecting the surprise I got. She sang a solo at the beginning of one of the songs and did a great job! (Now I know why she's been singing the song ALL THE TIME lately!!! :-) It is a cute song!)
Anyway, here comes the real bragging part. I was talking to the music teacher after the play telling her what a great job she did and what not. I mentioned to her that I didn't know Jessica was doing a solo, and she told me, "You just can't let talent like that go to waste. I had to create a solo part for her because I just couldn't let it be wasted." What a compliment! I thought that was really cool that she made a part specifically for Jessica to sing solo. Jessica didn't seem nervous at all either. She was very cute! I surprised myself, too, by getting a little bit emotional during the play. I didn't think I would cry, but for some reason it kind of got to me. There was a baby bear song that made me think about her being my baby bear growing up, and then to hear her sing her solo... I was so proud of her!!! My baby girl is growing up! :-)

So you'll just have to wait for the pics. and video. I was going to wait and just surprise everyone else with the video clip, but I figured I needed to post something on here.
To be continued...

Wow. What a great moment. I would have cried if one of my kids had a solo. Kids' signing always makes me cry. Can't wait to see the video.
Hope baby's feeling better. BTW, I tagged you over on my blog when you have time.
That makes me want to cry. That's awesome. I can't wait to see the video and pics. Way to go, Jessica. You make us proud.
checking the box
I love it and you. What a great family, you have plenty of reasons to be proud and happy. Isn't it fun to be a Mom and wife? Keep up the good work and give your mom and dad a hug for us and tell them we love them.
That's so neat! I can't wait until my kids get to be in a play. I love things like that! Thanks for sharing with us.
How fun and what a nice surprise. She must have gotten my talent for singing! ;) Can't wait to see the video.
Was Jeremy in Florida last week?
Miss ya Jearbear!
Yes, Jeremy left Friday for Florida. Yesterday, they left there and flew as far as Dallas, and hopefully (if the weather is good enough, since there are storms today, and if they are able to get the plane ready) he will be home this afternoon.
Well, speak of the devil--not to call Jeremy the devil. He just called. The plane is taken care of, and they should be coming this afternoon, assuming all goes as planned. So hopefully, after 5 days of no hubby, I'll have one again. The rain is all of a sudden really coming down now, though. I hope it doesn't cause a problem for them.
Thanks for everyone's comments! :-)
AWE! How sweet!
Ahhh, sweet little Jessica is growing up so quickly. These are the moments you will always treasure!! I wish I could have been there to hear her beautiful voice!!!!
Tell her that her auntie Amberlee loves her very much and that I am proud of how brave she was!!
So I just read all of this to Jessica, and she said, "I'm going to kiss Aunt Amberlee on the cheek when I see her next!" I thought that was cute and funny! So watch out Amber; she REALLY smooches! :-)
Wow it's been while since I've been able to come see your blog! Cute posts!! Congrats to Jessica...I mean shirley temple...:) That is so fun! I hope that your baby is better! I can't believe your sister has two sets of twins!! How far apart are they? You are so popular!! 14 posts in 2 days!! :)
DaMomma, did you read 14 posts in 2 days? Because I know I didn't post 14 posts in 2 days! ;-)
Jeremy's sister is actually the one with 2 sets of twins. They are pretty close together, but I don't remember exactly how far apart they are--I think less than 2 years or about that. He has another sister with a set of twins, as well, and 2 sisters who are twins. So there are a lot of twins in his family. Thankfully, the twins thing goes through the woman's side, not the man's. I have a brother whose wife had twins, though.
I'm glad you've been able to play catch-up, and thanks for commenting. :-)
That's so wonderful. What a little star you have. Good for her.
Ahhh, that melts my heart! What a sweetie and I don't mind a nice big smooch on the cheek :) especially when it comes from such a talented little girl like her!
A buddy superstar in OUR family! How fun. Good job Jessica.
