Between the Special Days!

I'm sorry that I have been such a slacker on here lately. I'm doing this post as a dual tribute on the day between two special days! This post is for two VERY SPECIAL people in my life. My life wouldn't be the same without either one of them! :-)

Yesterday was our 7th wedding anniversary, so I should give a little tribute to my sweetheart, Jeremy. I can hardly believe it has already been 7 years; the time has flown by. And yet, it seems like so much longer, too, like we've been together forever; I can hardly remember anymore life before him or whether I did a certain thing with him or not because it just seems like he has always been a part of my life. I love him so much and really do appreciate all he does for me and for our children. So here's to my sweetie, Jeremy, mi dulcecito (as far as we know, that's our own made up word, for any of you Spanish-speakers who think I said something wrong), mi corazon, y mi amor. Te quiero mucho, mi rey. Happy Anniversary! :-)

Tomorrow is Jessica's 6th birthday, so here's an early tribute to her! It seems like just yesterday I was in and out of the hospital getting ready to have her. (Oh, that's right! That was 6 years ago yesterday!) I'll see if I can find some time tomorrow to do more and put some pics on here (I seem to make lots of promises that way lately I haven't been very good about keeping. Sorry!) or something, but at least I want to say how much I love my little baby girl... oh, wait, that's right; she's not a baby anymore... my toddler... no, not that either... my big girl just starting school... oh, good grief, have I missed this whole past year?... my big kindergartener who will be done with it in 3 more days!!! Yikes! This year really has flown by sooooo quickly. I'm amazed when I think about how much Jessica has changed, grown, and learned this year. She's just not a baby anymore! I'm very proud of her! I may be a little too hard on her at times, but I mean well. I want her to be even better than me (which, of course, is very difficult to do ;-), but if anyone can do it, she can!), and I want her to be the very best she can be! Boy, I feel old! Two more years until she'll be baptized. Before I know it, she'll be gone, married, with kids of her own. Whoa! Okay, back to the present. I was getting way ahead of myself for a minute there! Phew!

Earlier today, Jessica said something funny. She was excited because I was going to let her help me make cupcakes for her class for tomorrow. She said that she wanted to live with me forever and that when she got married I would come and live with her and her husband. I told her I was glad she wanted me around but that I probably would not live with her when she got married. She asked why. (One day, she'll laugh that she ever said that!) I explained to her that she would want to have her own family then. I don't think she quite understood the issue, but that's just as well! One day she will, and I'll be wishing she still wanted me around! :-)

So here's to my sweet baby girl, who's not a baby anymore but will always be my baby! I love you, Jessica! Happy Birthday! :-)

Happy happy happy birthday Jessica! I remember seeing her crawl around the floor and gurgle. I can't believe it. And also happy anniversary. Did you do anything fun? Dinner, movie? We are celebrating our 5th in a few weeks. Crazy how time flies.

Thank you! Jessica had a fun day! I brought cupcakes to her class at school, and then she played at a friend's house, whose mom made some brownies and put candles in her piece for her to blow out after we sang to her. That was fun. Jeremy was gone all day, so that helped to make her birthday more fun, since I was kind of at a loss of what to do without Daddy around. Then we went to a pack mtg./barbeque dinner, where she got to play some more with lots of kids and have more food, along with another brownie and ice cream. Sooooo, I think she got more than her share of sweetness for one day. It must have been your fault, Amberlee! ;-) She had fun, and that is what counts, I guess.

That same friend who made the brownies watched our kids while we went to a movie (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) and dinner (Chinese buffet), and I was pleasantly surprised that Matthew did fine with her. He seems to be getting a little better about other people. She offered to watch them, and it was so nice because I can't even tell you the last time we went on a real date without any children, even the baby. It was a nice evening. Thanks again, y'all! :-)
