How's that for a title?
A friend of mine put this recipe on her blog, and when I realized it was gluten-free I asked her if I could post it on my blog, since I know several people who can't have gluten. She said of course! So here you go. I haven't tried it yet, but it is supposedly really good. I just thought y'all might like to try it, even if you don't need it to be gluten-free, but especially if you do. :-)
Ingredients
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for pan
8 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
6 large eggs, separated
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting
Sweetened whipped cream, for serving
Directions
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees.with the rack in the center. Butter the bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Set aside.
Place butter and chocolate in a large heatproof bowl and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring each time, until completely melted. Let cool slightly. Whisk in egg yolks.
In a large bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, and continue beating until glossy stiff peaks form. Whisk 1/4 of the egg whites into the chocolate mixture; then gently fold in remaining egg whites.
Pour batter into the prepared pan, and smooth the top with a rubber spatula. Bake until the cake pulls away from the sides of the pan and is set in the center, 45 to 50 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack; remove sides of pan. Serve at room temperature, dusted with confectioners’ sugar. Serve with whipped cream, if desired. Serves 8.
So if any of you try it, let me know how it is. And if I get around to trying it, I'll let you know how it goes too!

For all of you chocolate lovers out there - I have eaten this cake which was made for me the first time I ate dinner at a members home who happened to remember that I was gluten sensitive and found the recipe on the internet. It was a really delicious treat. I think she sweetened it with splenda which I prefer not to use, but it was so thoughtful. WoW
Thanks, Mom, for your input. I'm a little disappointed that this isn't a new one for you, but I'm glad to know you liked it. I'll definitely have to try making it sometime.
I thought you liked using splenda. You changed your mind? Or was I wrong to begin with?
So you all heard it. Eat up, chocolate lovers! :-)
Tami...off topic, but I just read about the award. Thanks! This cake looks yummy.
Anything chocolate....flour or not....I'll try it!
You make it, I will try it.
Yummmmmm! I don't eat chocolate a lot, and I don't bake, but I may have to try this.
Hey, Wendy! I'll make it, if you'll come here to try it! Sounds like a fair deal to me! In fact, any of the rest of you who want to take me up on that offer, the offer is good for you, too! :-)
nice to see you let the kids make you mud cakes.
Being that it was my lovely cake pictured I can give my testimonial that it is Yummy with a capitol Y! It's really light and moist, I couldn't stop eating it. Hope the rest of you enjoy it aswell. It's pretty easy to make especially if you melt the chocolate in the microwave.
