Another New Addition to the Gooch Family!

Last week I made a major purchase--something I've been wanting for a long time and finally decided I needed to just go ahead and make an investment on, figuring it would last me a very long time. (After all, my mom's had hers my whole life, and it still works!) I ordered the new Bosch Universal Plus Mixer, blender (which came with it for free), slicer/shredder (which I managed to get about $30 off from), cookie paddles (which I also got discounted), and a free cookbook!!! Free shipping and no sales tax (internet, out of state)! So, all in all, I got a pretty good deal! :-)

So we've been tracking the package online with UPS, and we knew it was supposed to come today. I went to pick up Jessica from school and saw the UPS lady dropping off some packages at the school. I asked her if she was going to my house next. ;-) She asked me my address, and when I told her, she looked in her little computer/scanner thingy. She said, "Yes, actually, I do have that one. If you'll follow me to my truck, I'll give it to you right now!" I saved her a stop, and she saved me from waiting any longer (especially seeing as the last UPS package we received didn't show up until 8:10 pm). Good timing picking up Jessie, if I do say so myself! Anyway...

OK, so get this. I got home, surprising Jeremy with my package from Bosch, and I was like a little kid on Christmas day. I excitedly opened the box and pulled out each item I'd ordered to go with the mixer. Then I got to the big box and opened it. As I was beginning to remove the box from inside the box I'd just opened that was inside the bigger box with everything (lots of boxes, hehehe, and peanuts too!), Jeremy pointed to some words on the inner box. It said, "Compact Kitchen Machine 450 Watts." I said, "You've got to be kidding me! They sent me the wrong one!!!" I wanted to cry; I'd been so excited and then it turned out to be the wrong one! It was supposed to be this:

the Universal Plus, and instead it was this:

the Compact mixer. Needless to say, I was pretty bummed out considering how much we'd been looking forward to getting it today and using it right away. Jeremy spent most of the day cleaning some wheat and grinding it into wheat flour. (Well, at least that's ready now for when we do get the mixer. Thanks, Mom Gooch, for your old wheat grinder!)

I called the Bosch place, and they felt really bad that happened. They sent the right one out today (making me that much more grateful that I caught the UPS lady at the school so that I was able to reach Bosch in time for it to go out today), so it should be here Friday. I guess that will give me until Friday to look at my new Bosch cookbook and plan what to do with it when I get it. I can have some wheat sprouted by then and ready to go into a loaf of bread. I can just smell the homemade bread now! :-) Actually, I was looking forward to using the blender to make a yummy smoothie, too! I guess if I've waited this long for it, what's 3 more days, right?! :-)

Do you get to keep the small one?

Bummer and enjoy!

You will have to do a blog with pictures of your first batch!

No, sorry to say, I don't get to keep the small one. Although, once I get the right one, I won't need that small one anyway, so it doesn't matter. Actually, they are taking care of all the shipping issues, and UPS is supposed to come pick it up from me.
Yes, I will definitely have to take pics of it when I get it and of the first use and all. You'll get to see. Thanks, Bon, for the suggestion.
Thanks, Marcia, I hope so too. I'm excited. Although I have to say, after what happened yesterday, I've lost a little bit of my enthusiasm just because of that--maybe just because I have to wait again. I'm sure I'll be just as excited opening the right box when it comes! :-)

Oy! I hate it when that happens.
I wish I could be there to try some of the homemade bread. Eat some for me, k-.
Have fun with the new toy.

At least you know the new one will be coming to you and not to someone else cause you are entering the MTC and it get's delivered to a sister's neighbor who signs for it, claims it and then denies it later and you worked real hard for it and were so excited when it went on sale and with your employee discount you could finally afford it and. . . I should be packing.

Can you forward Bonbons recipes?

Have fun with it when it gets there!

Did that happen to you, PiP? If so, that's awful. The police could have gotten involved; that's stealing! I forwarded the recipes. Good luck with your race. When do you leave? :-)

Sharebear, I will gladly eat some for you. I wish you were here to have some too, though, but I guess that just means there's more for the rest of us. You can come and have some, if you want. :-)

Dang! Isn't that just Murphy's law? I hope the new one comes soon. Enjoy, I've been wanting one for a little while too. Maybe by the time Blake goes to college we'll have enough to buy one! :)

Thanks, Tiare! It should come tomorrow supposedly, so here's hopin'! I really debated a lot over whether to buy one now or not because of finances, but I really think it's an investment. I plan to make homemade bread, so that will save us money. We needed a new blender anyway, so that takes care of that. And they last FOREVER--or at least a long long time anyway. So it will more than pay for itself over time. It is a big chunk all at once, but hopefully it will be worth it. I hope you don't have to wait that long to get one.
I didn't get around to sprouting any wheat, though. So my first loaf will not have wheat sprouts in it like I'd thought of trying. There will be many chances, though, to try it! I'm also thinking having a Bosch will help motivate me to do more from scratch because of the ease of it. We'll see how it goes! :-)

So did you get it yet? Have you made your first loaves of bread?

on the blender...we have had to have ours fixed several times...we do use it VERY frequently.
