Happy 3rd Birthday, Jacob--last Tuesday!

I'm a little slow putting these up here, but I thought I'd share a few pics from Jacob's 3rd birthday, Nov. 6 (Tues.). Happy Birthday, Jacob! (And Happy Anniversary Grandpa and Grandma Kelly, too!) He was a little ornery at the beginning of the day for some reason. (Sorry to the grandparents who tried to wish him a happy birthday and did not receive the greatest response from him in return!) Daddy took him to the airport, and that seemed to make everything better. He loves the airport! Well, here are some pics.

Jacob with his "new" bike. :-)

Jacob's B-day dinner--MAC and a brisket sandwich.

Jacob with his new Giant Dominoes game. He and Jessie have had fun with them.

And would you believe, I actually baked a pie that day! And I even let the kids cut out little cookies out of the leftover crust. I felt like such a good mommy for once... until I lost my patience with them doing it. But I persevered and let them continue, and we ended up with:

He also got some clothes for his birthday, one of which was a Lightning McQueen shirt. He was pretty excited about that. Well, he wanted to wear it to bed that night, but we said he could wear it the next day, which he did without hesitating. We ended up going to Amarillo Wed. evening, and we got home really late, so he went right to bed in his clothes because he'd already been asleep on the way home. So he was still in those clothes yesterday! Last night, I wish I would have gotten a pic. of him refusing to take that shirt off. It was very cute. He fought it so hard and did not want it off, but it was dirty and needed to go in the wash, and he needed pj's on, so we forced it off from him. Needless to say, after he was in bed, I immediately put it in the laundry room so that he wouldn't see it in the morning and think he needed to put it back on again. I think it was a winner as far as b-day presents go. What's even better is the deal I got on it and his other clothes. I don't know whether I should admit it, but I got him about 4 or 5 shirts and 4 or 5 pants all for a total of...... $2.00!!! Is that awesome or what? Yard sale! They are in really good condition; you would hardly even know they were used.

Well, anyway... I wished we'd had our camera with us when we went to Amarillo. We went to Red Robin for a birthday dinner for Jacob (if you sign up on the internet, they'll send you e-mails for free b-day meals--adults as well as kids). Towards the end, they came and brought Jacob a sundae and sang to him. The looks on his face were priceless! We saw kind of a combination of excited, nervous and confused (like who are these people and what are they doing), kind of shy (like he wasn't sure he wanted all that attention), intrigued, interested to see what it was all about, and ready to dig into that ice cream!!! I really wish I'd have gotten that on camera. Then Jeremy asked if he could have a bite, and Jacob said no. He asked him if I could have a bite, and Jacob said no. Then he asked if Jessica could have a bite, and Jacob said yes. So he'd share with Jessie but not with Daddy or Mommy. Of course, he did share with us all, but his initial response was cute. He had fun! He and Jessie got balloons, too, which made it even better, of course.

We also went to Toys 'R' Us (where he got another balloon and more singing and attention!) so that Jacob could spend his $3 gift card from Geoffrey the Giraffe and his $3 b-day money from G-ma & G-pa Kelly. We contributed about the same, and he chose..... (Take a wild guess. Come on.)

Yup, you guessed it. A Lightning McQueen car! (I believe they call it Crash Talking McQueen.) As I was opening the package I wondered why we let him get one that was a noise-maker, though. On the way home, I thought (and kind of hoped) that the batteries might run out before we even got it home because he was using it so much.... until he finally fell asleep. Ahhhh! Peace and quiet! It's not so bad, and he really does like it. It's one that has 3 points on it that are buttons that get pushed by crashing it and stuff, and then it has sound effects. I questioned whether it was wise of us to have let him get a toy that encourages him to crash it into things, since he already has a problem with crashing things into people and things. By then it was too late, though. Maybe it will actually encourage him to only crash that car and not everything else though! (Crossing fingers! Hoping!) Well, in any case, he's having a blast with it.

So he had a great 2 days of birthday stuff! And we had fun enjoying it with him! :-) I just can't believe he's 3. That went by really fast! And on it goes...

Sorry, we're still deciding on the corp.'s name for sure. We'll let you know when we do, which will have to be fairly soon.
