My adventure on my birthday and the days following.

So this is what happened on my B-day and the days that followed.

My co-pilot had informed me that there was a plane that needed to be picked up in NJ this week. (Side note he had gotten a replacement car for his daughter that lives in VA.) Well to save an airfare out to NJ he decided that this was a good opportunity to deliver this car to her. So on my birthday we head that way 4-7-09 at 11:00 am. We drove all day and all night and got to Alexandria, VA were his daughter lived on 4-8-09 at 3:00 pm. After picking up his daughter we went to the Temple in DC. We during the drive out to VA we were informed of another plane that needed to be picked up in CT. So to save money we decided to do the job. (Both planes go to the same place).

Well on 4-9-09 we left VA early in the morning to beat the traffic so that we could get to Newark, NJ on time to pick the first plane up. We flew it to Hartford, CT were the second plane needed to be picked up. The second plane was not be ready to fly out due to some maint. that needed to and couldn't get done till the next day. (Which was ok because the weather was bad along our way home).

4-10-09 both planes are ready to go by noon. We had to fly to the north because of wx through NY to Erie, PA that was our first fuel stop. The flight took 3 1/2 hrs. After leaving Erie we flew along the shore of Erie to miss wx. Our next stop would have been Gary, Indiana, but wx improved so that we could turn more southerly. We put in Terre Haute, Indiana and headed that way. As we got close to there it became apperant that Terre Haute would work because that wx would permit. (we could have gotten in there because we can fly in the clouds, but we were in unfamiliar airplanes.) So the second stop was Champain, IL. That flight leg was over 3 hrs. We spent the night, got up early and headed out.

4-11-09 The next planned stop alond our route to TX was going to be Sringfield, MO but there wasn't the visibility to go there so we decided to go to Topeka, KS. that was about the limit on distance for fuel. we had a good ground speed that we decided to stop in Burlington, KS to get us one step closer to our destination without making a lot of stops. ( 3 1/2 hrs was the longest that we could fly. We had an hr fuel reserve after that.) After fueling in Burlington we flew to Pampa were we are going to spend a few days before heading one last leg to the planes final destination. WX is making it impossible to make it to there to the final destination for the next few days.

An hr into our drive.

The Half way point of the 1573 mile trip to VA with the car.

Going to the Washington, DC Temple. The car in front is the car we drove out to VA for my co-pilots daughter. This is after we met up with her.
Got to see this Beautiful building and go inside.

The other part of the Adventure.

Sounds like a great time. I really thought you were going to say he gave you a plane for your birthday.

Maybe next time...

Cool. I thought you were going to share some hair raising flying experience like getting sucked up into a thunder boomer and spit out upside down... or an emergency landing in some corn field some where.

Now you can sing that Johnny Cash song, "I've been everywhere, man"
